Dr. McClean has worked in community development with a focus on health, including HIV/AIDS, and gender for over 25 years, including spending the past six years in Indonesia. She has specialized in working with the poor to bring their voices into policy and programming, in order that solutions are people-focused and locally-owned.
She has worked as a consultant and trainer in over 25 countries. for donors such as the Asian Development Bank, world Bank, ASEAN, many bilateral government agencies, as well as international and local NGOs, and private sector organisations.
Dr. McClean has a PhD from the University of Toronto in medical immunology, and a Master of Public Health, with a focus on gender and tropical health, from the University of Sydney. She has taught widely in the areas of project management, health in developing countries, gender and poverty reduction.
Dr. McClean provided services to the Australian Government in accrediting Australian NGOs working in international development for ten years. She prepared Angsamerah’s first strategic plan!
