Dr. Gabrielle Adani, who is warmly known as Gaby, is a young physician with a deep interest in human behavior. This interest stems from a strong curiosity about how individuals think, feel, and make decisions in various life situations. It is this curiosity that led her to pursue a career in medicine, a field that not only studies humans from a scientific perspective, but also requires sensitivity to patients’ emotional and social conditions.
She completed her medical education at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia, where she was trained to develop a critical, systematic, and evidence-based mindset. Beyond that, her education enriched her perspective in understanding individuals holistically. She learned that each patient has a unique background, experience, and personal story, all of which play a role in their health condition. This understanding has strengthened her empathy as a physician.
Throughout her academic and professional journey, Dr. Gaby has focused on adolescent health, as well as sexual and reproductive health. She considers these areas highly important, yet they are still often regarded as taboo topics in society. Her interest goes beyond theory and is reflected in her active involvement in clinical practice, health research, and the writing of educational articles aimed at improving public understanding.
As a form of concrete contribution, she became actively involved in a student organization focusing on reproductive health and related rights, namely the Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV & AIDS (SCORA), CIMSA Universitas Indonesia. She was entrusted to serve as the university-level chair, where she led various projects focused on improving health literacy and raising public awareness, particularly among adolescents.
Her commitment to health issues continued through her involvement in the Asosiasi Kesehatan Remaja (AKAR), an organization dedicated to addressing various adolescent health concerns. In this organization, she contributes to initiatives aimed at creating a more supportive environment for young people to access accurate health information and services.
Currently, Dr. Gaby is part of the medical team at Angsamerah, where she provides clinical services in sexual and reproductive health, while continuing to develop her expertise and share knowledge through various programs aimed at strengthening the public health system.
