Dr. Adiyana Esti

Dr. Esti is a general practitioner who joined Angsamerah Clinic in April 2016 as a medical doctor. In addition to providing clinical care, she is also responsible for researching and writing articles on sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and sexually transmitted infections for Angsamerah.

After graduating from Trisakti University in 2002, Dr. Esti worked as a medical consultant and outreach worker at Yayasan Asa Bangsa, an organization focused on drug dependency, until 2010. During the same period, she also practiced as a general practitioner at Pelni Hospital in Jakarta. She further broadened her expertise through her experience in DNA research at the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology, enriching her knowledge in the field of genetics.

Driven by a strong commitment to social causes, Dr. Esti has been actively involved in various community organizations, including Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (2008–2010), Yayasan Lima Roti Dua Ikan (2011–2013), Yayasan World Harvest Indonesia (2007–2016), Yayasan Pendar Pagi (2014–2016), and Sahabat Anak (2007–present). She currently serves on the board of a foundation supporting former inmates and is part of a medical interest group within an organization dedicated to raising awareness about human trafficking. In these roles, she applies her public health expertise to promote community awareness and disease prevention across diverse populations.

Dr. Esti has extensive experience in managing tuberculosis (TB) and HIV cases within communities. Her work expanded significantly during her time as an assisting medical professional for TB and HIV case management at Class IIA Youth Correctional Facility in Tangerang, Banten. Through her involvement, the facility became one of Indonesia’s 11 model prisons and a referral center for TB and HIV cases in Banten Province. Over nearly seven years, she mentored the facility’s medical staff and trained selected inmates as peer educators to support TB and HIV programs. These efforts contributed to a measurable decline in morbidity and mortality rates from both diseases within the institution.

She has also been entrusted by the Jakarta District Health Office and the Ministry of Health to serve as a clinical mentor for HIV and sexually transmitted infection (STI) services in healthcare facilities across several regions in Indonesia.

In addition, Dr. Esti played a key role in coordinating and mentoring the implementation of expanded comprehensive HIV care services (PDP) across 20 private hospitals. This initiative applied the Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) approach to strengthen collaboration between government, private sector, and community organizations in the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections in several cities across Java.

Her deep concern for people living with HIV (PLHIV), especially children, has driven her to actively advocate for equal rights and inclusion. She initiated children’s rights campaigns titled “Let’s Play Together!” in 2019 and again in 2024, promoting acceptance and reducing stigma. With her extensive experience and dedication, it is no surprise that many patients seek her out for HIV-related consultations.

Dr. Esti is frequently invited as a speaker on topics such as reproductive health—particularly for children and adolescents—HIV, sexually transmitted infections, substance use, and human trafficking. Despite her extensive experience, she remains committed to continuous learning and is always eager to engage in discussions and explore new knowledge.
