For Dr. Kevin, as he is warmly known by his patients and colleagues, mental health is about far more than treating symptoms or resolving problems that appear on the surface. It is a journey of self-discovery, finding meaning, and rebuilding hope amid life’s many challenges.
This passion led him to pursue specialist training in Psychiatry at the University of Indonesia, where he completed his residency in 2024. He is deeply interested in the complexity of how people think, feel, and relate to the world around them, with a particular focus on neurodivergent individuals, including those living with ADHD and autism.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Kevin integrates a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic psychotherapy. He also continues to deepen his expertise in play therapy and art therapy, helping patients discover the approach that best enables them to understand themselves, process their life experiences, and grow toward a better quality of life.
His experience as a psychiatrist at Persahabatan Hospital, one of Indonesia’s national referral hospitals, has profoundly shaped his perspective on the healing process. He has also cared for patients living with chronic illnesses, including tuberculosis and HIV, who often face significant psychological challenges alongside their physical conditions. Through these experiences, he has come to appreciate that hope, emotional support, and mental well-being are often essential elements that help individuals persevere and move forward throughout long and demanding treatment journeys.
His belief in the close connection between the mind and body has also inspired Dr. Kevin to deepen his mindfulness practice and become a certified yoga teacher. He believes that true well-being begins when individuals are fully present in their own lives, aware of what they are experiencing, and able to respond to life’s challenges with greater clarity and awareness. For this reason, mindfulness is often integrated into the therapeutic approach he offers his patients.
Dr. Kevin believes that a warm, accepting therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of recovery. He is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and stigma-free environment where everyone can share their stories, struggles, hopes, and questions without fear of judgment. To him, recovery is not about becoming someone different, but about rediscovering the self that may have been lost amid life’s many challenges. Every small step toward self-understanding, self-acceptance, and personal growth is a meaningful part of that journey, and he considers it a privilege to walk alongside his patients every step of the way.
