Leonardo started his career as a general practitioner by collaborating with an NGO in Uganda, East Africa in 2013 after graduating from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sam Ratulangi. Apparently, it was Leonardo’s starting point to be interested in global health. Returning from Africa, he pursued master degree and earned a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada.
In 2015-2016, Leonardo had the opportunity to work for the tuberculosis prevention program at the USAID Indonesia Health Office. He was exposed to numerous public health issues, including mental health. Understanding this need, Leonardo found out that psychiatry is the answer for his quest for meaning of life to humanity.
In 2018 Leonardo continued his psychiatric residency training at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia. During the training, he attended psychodynamic psychotherapy workshops and was awarded for psychotherapy case presentation. Leonardo has been trained for cases requiring intensive psychotherapy approaches such as depression, bipolar, borderline and narcissistic personality disorders and gender dysphoria.
